Oldhammer Free Museum
There is a place where one can go and see a great many of the origional Games Workshop Studio miniatures of the 1980s.
Located next to a historic church and the battlefield of East Stoke, last and bloodiest battle of the War of the Roses!
Hidden away in the walled stables of an impressive period building that was at one time a leper colony.
There could be no finer day out than a visit to...
Wargames Foundry!
Address:
The Carriage Court, Stoke Hall, Church Lane, East Stoke, Newark, Nottingham, England.
Freshly cast origional 1980s Citadel miniatures can be found through a quick search, normally concentrated in one corner. Purchasing some souvenirs is recommended!

At the risk of being an old grumpy contrarian, Foundry is a shop not a museum?
ReplyDeleteI want to make what I believe to be an important distinction, other people may or may not agree.
Here is my take:
A museum may have a fee to enter and that is how they make their money.
A shop is free to enter but they make money by selling things.
I have only been to Foundry twice, but on both occasions the shop part was closed.
In this situation you call a number that is presented on a sign and someone from the workshop comes and opens up for you to buy stuff.
I would feel very bad, to drag someone away from casting and or packing customer orders, to open the shop only to then look at stuff and leave without buying.
Now this may not be how they normally operate, maybe they are normally open full time and have a dedicated member of staff for the shop.
But if my very limited experiences are the norm, I would discourage people from going just to have a look around unless they plan on making it worth Foundry’s time by buying some of the great stuff they sell.
I hope this comes across as fair and I certainly don’t want to come to your own webspace and be telling people what to do.
Posting in good faith.
I totally agree Mike. Although deliberately part museum to attract visitors it is also a shop throughout. They are known to encourage wargaming on their tables as well which is very generous.
DeleteCurrently the site is open to visitors weekdays, weekends by arrangement or on special occasions.
I think it is only fair and polite to buy something if visiting just as you would buy a drink if sitting relaxing in a pub 👍
